During the academy we discussed the concept of © and what it meant to the podcaster. There is one main issue you need to address to prevent possible legal trouble down the road. Make sure you recieve rights to use the materials you choose to use in your podcast.
Collegiate Broadcasters, Inc has a very good article located at http://www.collegebroadcasters.org/podcast.shtml
There is a general discussion on rights and how to secure them if needed.
I have been doing some research on how to address the needs for good quality music and as with many things, where there is a will there is a way.
There is a new look at licenses called: Creative Commons license, and a trend is starting with musical artists that are unsigned by major lables to allow use of their music through this license. Sights like PodSafe Audio, are starting to appear on the net to answer the need of quality music with acceptable licenses for podcasters to use.
In the class, we discussed that content is king. How important do you think having music and sound effects over top of the narration is to creation of a professional sounding podcast?
