How To Cite Websites for Biblography Pages

In your science fair projects, you will need to cite where you found information that helped you create your work.  This is called a biblography.

There are formats for showing this information correctly and sometimes it can be confusing.  To help you present your information in the correct format, check out the website called Easybib.  Answer a few simple questions and it will present the material in the correct format.

Easybib is located at this web address: http://www.easybib.com/

I have created a video that will show you have to use Easybib.  Click Here to Learn How to Use Easy Bib

If you are getting a lot of web addresses that are too long to write down, try www.tinyurl.com to help shrink the web address to a smaller size.

Click on this link to watch a video that will explain the  Tiny_Url_Instructions.

Probability

I can review the concept of probability.  Probability is the really another way of saying the chance something could occur.

As bellwork, please view the two videos listed below:

1) Let’s start by watching the Probability Math Song Video.  Follow this link to listen to the song: ProbabilitySong

2) Let’s review why that song makes sense:  Watch this quick video on the math of the song: SimpleProbability

We are now going to run some simulations to check your understanding and see if the materials presented are correct.    Mr. Quinn will work with your group during this phase of the lesson.  Please wait for instructions.

Coin Flip –http://www.shodor.org/interactivate/activities/Coin/

If your coin flip wont work on your computer, try this one
Spinner – http://www.shodor.org/interactivate/activities/ExpProbability/

Now that we have looked at the real world of probability, please read below and follow the directions.

Assessment:

Probability is used in games all the time.  A really famous game show host named Monty Hall once asked contestants to make a choice to find something behind 3 doors.  It became so famous, it was called the “Monty Hall Problem”. To learn more, follow the link and select #5.and/or watch this video: TheMontyHallProblem

Today’s exit pass:  On a piece of paper, please explain in your own words why the probability is better to change doors in the Monty Hall problem rather than stand with your first answer.

We have been working to review figurative language over the last several sessions.

The new figurative language website is now ready for your to explore.  This week, we will explore the use figurative language in modern music and learn how song writers use these tools to create the meaning in their songs.

Students were told that headphones would be used this week.  This is a reminder that you will really want to have your headphones with you to work on this lesson.

Follow this link to go to the new website and explore page 3 today to look at some of the songs we are going to examine.
